After losing his best friend on a mission, Matteo Donner (Rico Verhoeven), a retired special forces soldier, returns to Amsterdam after wandering the world fighting his guilt. Donner has returned with a single goal: to try to rescue his deceased friend's daughter, who has been kidnapped by the local mafia, led by Saban (Frank Grillo).
