A screen adaption of eponymous novelette by Rudolfs Blaumanis. Stable man Edgars is in love with maid Kristine but her mother does not approve the relationship because of man's character (and being a little too much a friend of a bottle). A rich suitor wants to marry Krist?ne, she finally accepts he proposal, but in the end the wedding is not meant to be.
