La famille Fenouillard (1961) follows the misadventures of the Fenouillard family as they embark on a journey to Paris with the intention of visiting the iconic Eiffel Tower. However, their plans go awry when they mistakenly board the wrong train, guided by the confusing instructions of a station master. This error leads them to a ship bound for Brazil. Upon arrival, they find themselves lost in a lush, virgin forest teeming with exotic wildlife, including parrots and boas, and even encounter cannibals who consider them a potential meal. Rescued by escaped convicts from a penal colony, the family attempts to return home but ends up on a ship heading to the North Pole, where they temporarily reside in an igloo. Their journey continues with a stop in Japan, where Madame Fenouillard indulges in sake and dresses as a geisha. Unable to find a boat at the harbor, they decide to make their way back home via Africa's rivers, the pyramids, and the road to Damascus. By the end of their extraordinary voyage, the Fenouillard family has seen the world but still hasn't laid eyes on the Eiffel Tower.
