The Shopworn Angel (1938) follows the journey of Bill Pettigrew, a young and inexperienced Texan soldier who is dispatched to New York City for fundamental military training during the tumultuous period of World War I. His life takes an unexpected turn when he encounters the sophisticated and experienced actress Daisy Heath, whose automobile nearly collides with him. Daisy, intrigued by Bill's innocence, consents to pose as his sweetheart to enhance his standing among his peers. However, their initial charade soon blossoms into a genuine and heartfelt romantic connection.
