A Song of Lisbon (1933) follows the story of Vasco (Vasco Santana), a medical student in the vibrant city of Lisbon. His wealthy aunts from Trás-os-Montes generously support him, believing he has already earned his degree, a lie he has perpetuated. Instead of focusing on his studies, Vasco indulges in a carefree, bohemian lifestyle, frequenting local fairs and charming young women, particularly Alice (Beatriz Costa), a seamstress from the Castelinhos district. This lifestyle, however, does not sit well with Alice's ambitious father, Caetano (António Silva), a tailor who is well aware of Vasco's mounting debts.
