The Promised Land

In the middle of the 18th century, the Danish King Frederik V declared that the wild heathlands of Jutland should be cultivated and settled so that civilization could spread and new taxes could be generated for the royal household. But no one dared to follow the king's decree. The moor was an inhospitable place, full of bandits and with a brutal and unforgiving nature. But in 1755, Captain Ludvig Kahlen set out to create a colony on behalf of the king. However, the sole ruler of the area, the ruthless Frederik de Schinkel, believes the land belongs to him. When de Schinkel realizes that his maid Ann Barbara and her husband have escaped to seek refuge with Kahlen, he vows revenge and promises to do everything in his power to chase the captain away. But Kahlen is undeterred and engages in a battle so unequal that it will put not only his life at risk, but also the family of outcasts that has formed around him.
