Life (1996) unfolds within the confines of an Australian prison, specifically in a segregated section housing inmates infected with AIDS. This poignant yet realistic drama revolves around the camaraderie and emotional bonds that develop among the afflicted prisoners. Des, a former nightclub bouncer, is the latest addition to the HIV block, attributing his infection to Sharon, a stripper from the club. His new cellmate, Ralph, believes his illness stemmed from a blood transfusion. As Des, who also suffers from epilepsy, gets acquainted with Ralph and the other inmates, the narrative oscillates between the present and Des's past before his incarceration.
