Pink Komkommer (S)
1991 · Movie · 11 min. · Canada
This 1991 independent animated film contains strong sexual content, and is not appropriate for minors, but it is also an artistic experiment by several noteworthy, award-winning and respected animators. This collaborative film is about an elderly woman who has several erotic dreams, each with the exact same soundtrack. Each dream is directed and animated by a different noteworthy animator: "Hey Arnold" creator Craig Bartlett, Bulgarian animator Stoyan Dukov, Dutch genius Paul Driessen, Newland, Canadian duo David Fine and Alison Snowden, Janet Perlman and Sara Petty. The film is a sequel of sorts to Newland's previous collaborative "jam" film Anijam. For this film, Newland and Driessen created a short soundtrack of sexually suggestive sounds, and then distributed the soundtrack to the separate animation units, with the instructions that they could do anything they wanted, but that it should be synched to the sound, and be vulgar or erotic. It's sometimes hilarious, sometimes shocking, but always fascinating to see how the different animators responded to the sound recording. Finally, the cherry on top of the cake, the dreamer, animated by Canadian Christopher Hinton, goes through the same sequence of sounds herself upon awakening, but with less sexy results than in her dreams. This film has been rarely exhibited, for obvious reasons, since it was made in the early 90s.
