Doctor Who: The Ice Warriors (TV) (1967) sees the Doctor and his companions materialize on a frozen Earth during a new ice age. They venture into a research facility where scientists, led by Commander Clent, are utilizing an ionizer to halt the encroaching glacier. A colossal humanoid being, dubbed an Ice Warrior by the scientists, is unearthed from the ice. Upon thawing, it comes to life as Varga, the captain of a Martian vessel that crash-landed on Earth centuries prior and remains trapped in the glacier. Varga initiates a rescue mission for his fellow warriors and devises a scheme to dominate Earth, as Mars is now uninhabitable.
