Benaam Badsha (1991) tells the story of a man discovered in a trash bin as a baby, who grows up to become a notorious hired killer, kidnapper, and rapist, portrayed by Anil Kapoor. One of his victims is Jyoti (Juhi Chawla), who is assaulted on her wedding day. Her life shattered and unmarried, she resolves to persuade her attacker to wed her. She moves into his vicinity and, despite his initial refusal, she feigns pregnancy to convince him to let her live with him in a dilapidated, roofless dwelling. Over time, she begins to change him, giving him the name Deepak so he can be known by others. Deepak is then offered a contract by Jaikal (Amrish Puri) to eliminate Kaameshwari (Rohini Hattangadi). Deepak declines the assignment, but is subsequently arrested for Kaameshwari's murder.
