Song of Dolores
1947 · Movie · 96 min. · Argentina
Dolores (Imperio Argentina) is seduced by balladeer Melchior (Enrique Diosdade). She gets her revenge by humiliating Melchior in public. Alas, he gets his revenge by composing a nasty ballad about her, subjecting her to ridicule when the song climbs upward on the Spanish version of the Hit Parade. Dolores finally finds shelter from her unwanted fame in the establishment of innkeeper Mariano (Ricardo Canales), who is aware of her reputation but doesn't care. Subsequent plot complications involve Melchior's twin brother, and Dolores' erstwhile lover, who proves his ardor in a most startling manner. Dolores has frequently popped up as a "film classic" on cable TV's various Spanish-language services.
