Gombrowicz, Argentina and Me
2000 · Documentary · 84 min. · France
In 1939, the Polish writer Witold Gombrovicz arrived in Buenos Aires for a two-week visit. But then, World War II broke out. He would not leave Argentina until 24 years later. When I read his book, I — an Argentine living in France for the past 24 years — was surprised by his attachment to Argentina. I tried to understand why this Polish exile spoke of my country as if he had been born there. Alberto Yaccelini
