Show People (1928) follows the journey of Peggy, a young woman from Georgia who is brought to Hollywood by her father, Colonel Pepper, with dreams of becoming an actress. In the bustling world of cinema, Peggy crosses paths with Billy, who secures her a role at Comet Studio, where they collaborate on comedic films. However, Peggy's fortunes take a turn when she is discovered by High Art Studio, leading her to abandon Billy and Comet for a more prestigious career. Adopting the stage name Patricia Pepoire, Peggy initially shuns Billy when he encounters her on a film set. As her newfound fame wanes and she finds herself out of favor with those who do not appreciate her artistic aspirations, Peggy plots to marry Andre to gain a false title. Billy, however, is determined not to let Peggy slip away without a struggle.
