Unser kurzes Leben

Young gifted idealist Franziska decides to leave the shelter of her studentship in Dresden for a junior position in a busy provincial architectural practice. Escaping a disastrous marriage had something to do with it – her ghastly in-laws literally pulling the rug from under her feet. But mostly Franziska wants to prove her merits on her own. You see, she gets patronised an awful lot, by everyone from her indulgent professor to the motherly older ladies at her new accommodation block. She's very petite, with something of the looks and demeanour of Rodney Trotter's little sister. So she puts her all into an ambitious concept for a project for a whole new town centre. Will Franziska's design successfully blend old and new in a radical new architecture for living? And if it does, will the city fathers actually build it, or just go ahead and put up some cheap concrete pre-fabs like they always do? You can probably guess the answers, but at least our girl fits in some romance (think Too Skinny for Love) along the way, complete with wild and dangerous motorcycle riding (think Joe from Tragic Ceremony).
