Golden Slumber (2010) follows the chaotic journey of laid-back Aoyagi, whose life takes a dramatic turn when a fishing trip with an old friend leads to a series of unfortunate events. After being drugged and framed for the assassination of the Prime Minister, Aoyagi finds himself pursued by corrupt law enforcement. This marks the start of an extraordinarily bizarre and perilous day. Fortunately, Aoyagi receives support from an eclectic group of allies, including a renowned pop star, a rockabilly delivery man, a disabled former gangster, and an unusually cheerful serial killer. Throughout the film's intricate and clever plot, director Nakamura masterfully incorporates a heartfelt tribute to the power of friendship. Despite the numerous challenges Aoyagi faces, his friends and family remain steadfast in their belief in him, drawn to his unwavering and almost irrational kindness.
