6 June 1944 - "The Light of Dawn" is the story of the Normandy landings, Operation Overlord - the biggest military operation in history. Expecting an invasion somewhere on Eurpoe's west coast, Hitler had ordered the construction of a defensive wall from Norway to the Spanish border. The Allies began planning on a colossal scale in terms of manpower and materials. All winter long, tens of thousands of American troops poured into England to join their British brothers-in-arms in training for D-Day. By the beginning of June, the stage was set for the most important and critical seaborne invasion of all time.
