Kedma (2002) unfolds in the tumultuous days leading up to the establishment of the State of Israel in May 1948. A weathered ship carrying a group of Holocaust survivors arrives at the new territory, only to be greeted with hostility. British troops open fire, attempting to prevent the survivors from disembarking. Simultaneously, the Jewish secret army, aiming to assist, also engages in gunfire. A small group manages to reach the shore, experiencing their first moments in Palestine. Exhausted and famished, these hopeful immigrants are swiftly drawn into the conflict, compelled to take up arms against Arab forces. The narrative delves into the unspoken truths and tragic consequences that erupt from both sides of the conflict.
