Far from the Sea (2015) follows the story of Santi, a former ETA terrorist who is released from prison in 2009 after serving 22 years due to the controversial Parot Doctrine. Upon his release, Santi journeys to the small coastal town of Cabo de Gata in Almería, Spain, to reconnect with Emilio, a friend and former cellmate. During a visit to the hospital where Emilio is staying, Santi unexpectedly encounters Marina, who collapses upon seeing him. Marina, haunted by the memory of her father's murder when she was just eight years old, becomes fixated on Santi, believing him to be the killer. One day, she approaches him and shoots him three times before fleeing, only to return minutes later to tend to his wounds using her medical expertise. As Marina's husband begins to notice her peculiar behavior, Santi recovers from his injuries. The two find themselves navigating their shared traumatic past, leading to a complex and unexpected journey of healing and redemption.
