Swarmed (2005) unfolds in the quiet town of Dundas, Indiana, where genetic scientist Ken Horvath (MICHAEL SHANKS) is engaged in late-night experiments in his lab. He approaches a glass enclosure containing eight enormous yellow jacket wasps, applying a greenish substance before setting a timer. The wasps succumb swiftly. Later that evening, the supposedly deceased wasps exhibit signs of life. Two of them manage to escape their confinement. The lab is deserted, save for one individual: Roy Peltor, the night janitor. He hears an ominous buzzing growing louder. The two wasps launch an attack on his face, causing him to scream in terror and agony. Roy strikes out, killing one wasp, but his face is severely injured, and he collapses, lifeless, as the remaining wasp escapes.
