Undo (1994)

Undo (1994) follows the story of Moemi, who is less than thrilled when her partner Yukio brings home a pair of turtles as pets. Despite Yukio's efforts to keep her company, Moemi, who desires a dog or cat, feels overlooked. Yukio, a writer working from home, modifies one turtle's shell to be walked on a leash, while Moemi designates the other as "The House Turtle." Their life takes a turn when Moemi's braces are removed, and Yukio finds their intimacy less fulfilling. Moemi begins to tie everything in sight with rope, starting with the turtles. A psychiatrist diagnoses her with "Obsessive Knot-Binding Syndrome," attributing it to her strained relationship with Yukio. As Moemi's behavior escalates, tying herself and the apartment in knots, the doctor warns Yukio that her condition has reached a critical stage. Yukio is instructed to restrain Moemi that evening, leading to a complex and unsettling dynamic between them. The film explores the depths of their relationship and the consequences of Moemi's compulsive behavior.
