Rosie (2013) follows Lorenz Meran, a 40-year-old successful gay author grappling with severe writer's block, as he is compelled to leave his life in Berlin and return to his hometown of Altstätten in eastern Switzerland. His mission is to care for his elderly mother, Rosie, who is determined to maintain her independence and refuses any form of external assistance or a care home. Lorenz finds himself trapped in his small hometown, not only dealing with Rosie's resistance to losing her dignity but also confronting his own midlife crisis. As hidden family secrets surface amidst the tension, Lorenz struggles to recognize that love is unexpectedly approaching the doorstep of his parents' home.
