The New World was a hope and it was a way. And it was for all of Europe. Nearly sixty million Europeans emigrated between 1820 and 1930. They went to places without arms and plenty of land and capital. An old story that, in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, pushed five million Spaniards to America. Three million never returned. There was no border that could prevent it, even if it was as wide as an ocean.
