Comedy of mix-ups with Heinz Rühmann in a double role: Peter Pett is appointed heir to the fortune of five millions of his recently passed away American uncle. But in his last will, his uncle set the clause that Peter has to lead a verifiably happy marriage. To review Peter’s marriage, his uncle’s notary sends a confidant, Mister Blubberboom, to Germany. But Mister Blubberboom is interested in the money as well. Thus, he tries to sabotage Peter’s happy marriage with the help of his friend Mabel. After a big night out, they book Peter on a ship to New York to separate him from his beloved wife Hix. But Hix together with Peter’s cousin Patrick Pett – who looks exactly like Peter – follow the disparate gang.
