Pan (S) (1962) is a captivating short film directed by Herman van der Horst. Initially, the birds are alarmed by his presence, and when he later swims among them, they attempt to drive him away. Returning to his boat, the boy plays a soothing melody on his pan-pipe, enchanting the birds. Even a pair of initially hostile swans, who had previously cornered him, are moved by his music and perform a graceful mating dance.
