In a quiet village in the rural district of Emmental, the widowed mother of the local pastor, a woman who has always repressed her ambitions, decides in her old age to fulfill the dream of a lifetime: to turn her fusty grocer's shop into a lingerie boutique. The change throws the village into turmoil.
