Autoficción (Self-fiction) sets up a game between two genres of film in a tense relationship with each other, direct film and fictional film, drawing on the style of Agnès Varda herself, as well as of novelists interested in autobiography, such as Mary McCarthy, Chris Kraus and Rachel Cusk. Paradoxically, this is her most impersonal work in which the main protagonist is the city of Los Angeles, an active and passive agent, through which its inhabitants make their way, caught up in situations in which the word operates as a political tool that is essential for living in society. In each scene, music is responsible for devising the choreography for crossing the filmic space and intensely addressing the audience.
