Valentin is a young painter who lives in the imaginary world of his paintings. Meeting up with his grandmother Nina, a Jewish émigré from Poland, he feels bound to confess to her his solitude and lack of inspiration. In the course of the few days they spend together in Paris, Valentin becomes increasingly eager to uncover the past that Nina has always sought to conceal from him...
