In the remote Norwegian woods, far away from his family, a filmmaker with a bleeding ulcer realizes that he is dissolving. In coming to terms with these insights, he sets forth building a Japanese tea house. He is obsessed with a Zen philosophy called "Wabi-Sabi", which is supposed to help you accept that life is imperfect, impermanent and incomplete, and he wants to build the tea house accordingly. In the process, he meets a lovesick farmer, a lumberjack with a heart condition, and a depressed moose hunter. 'A Cup of Tea' is a dark "documedy" about disease, disorder and death.
