The Big Sombrero (1949) follows the story of Gene, who is employed as the foreman of the expansive Big Sombrero ranch. The ranch is managed by Jim Garland, who oversees the business interests of the owner, Estrellita Estrada. Estrada, however, is more focused on her aspirations to move to America rather than managing her Mexican properties. Gene uncovers Garland's scheme to evict all the Mexican ranchers from the land, leading him to rebel against his employer. This defiance places Gene in the midst of perilous situations, including cattle stampedes and an avalanche orchestrated by Garland's men.
