Il corsaro (1970) follows the adventures of an English buccaneer who faces a significant setback when he loses his ship in a high-stakes card game. In an attempt to start anew, he disguises himself as a priest. However, his deception is eventually uncovered, leading to his arrest and subsequent deportation to Canada aboard a vessel filled with a diverse group of prisoners, including pirates, thieves, and prostitutes. During the voyage, he orchestrates a mutiny and is hailed as the new captain. His luck turns when he triumphs in a battle against a Spanish ship and assists an English Governor in reclaiming his colony. With this victory, the buccaneer resumes his old ways but now operates under the protection of the King.
