In his dramatic television debut, legendary musical superstar Mick Jagger plays an Emperor who finds that life's most beautiful treasures sometimes come in plain wrapping-like a small little nightingale bird and a humble Kitchen Maid (Chicago Hope's/Hannah And Her Sister's Barbara Hershey). Money and power can't buy happiness, and when the Emperor hears the beautiful, simple song of the Nightingale he is filled with a joy that has long escaped him. But soon after, the Emperor and his courtiers (Harold And Maude's Bud Cort and American Family's/Selena's Edward James Olmos) foolishly banish the bird for a mechanical nightingale that they think will perform better. But nothing can take the place of the real thing, and when the Emperor falls deathly ill, the Kitchen Maid is the only one who knows where to find the Nightingale who can save him. But can she do it in time?
