Pardon My Past (1945) follows the journey of two recently discharged soldiers, Eddie York and Chuck Gibson, as they travel to Beaver Dam, Wisconsin with dreams of establishing their own mink farm. Their plans take an unexpected turn when they find themselves in New York, where Eddie is mistaken for the wealthy playboy Francis Pemberton. This mix-up leads them to bookie Jim Arnold, who believes Eddie owes him $12,000 in gambling debts. Arnold seizes their $3,000 savings and demands the remaining amount by the next day. Desperate to recover their money, Eddie and Chuck embark on a quest to find the real Francis Pemberton, only to discover that everyone in the Pemberton household believes Eddie is the playboy himself.
