Runaway Day

Shot in 16mm, Bavellas’ debut feature tells the story of Maria and Loukas, two people who decide to run away from home for no apparent reason. They start wandering around modern-day Athens, exploring the city, while each and every resident is ceased by a sudden desire to flee. "Runaway Day" is a film about zombies, but not the flesh-eating kind. Bending the rules of this well-loved genre, the villain here is the city itself and all the problems it inflicts on its long-suffering inhabitants.
