Het zakmes (1992) follows the journey of a young boy named Mees who finds himself in a predicament. He inadvertently takes his best friend Tim's pocket knife home and realizes too late that he can't return it because Tim has moved away to Flevoland the very next day. Mees is left to navigate this challenge on his own, as his parents are preoccupied with their own lives. His mother, a renowned singer, is more often seen on television than in person, while his father struggles with the dual roles of housekeeper and secretary to his famous wife. With no one to turn to, Mees embarks on a solo quest to find his friend and return the pocket knife.
