The Vice of Hope

"If I have to die, I want to choose how I die." Time flows like a river for Maria, a hooded individual with an unyielding step. An existence that is lived one day at a time, without dreams or desires, while she takes care of her mother and remains at the beck and call of a bejewelled “madame.” Together with her brave-eyed pit bull, Maria ferries pregnant women across the river, in what seems to be an endless purgatory. But it’s precisely this woman who will one day experience hope again, in its most ancestral and powerful form, as miraculous as life itself. Because staying human has always been the greatest challenge.
