True Crime (1996) follows the story of Mary Giordano, a young woman with a lifelong interest in crime and investigation. Unlike other cases she has explored through TRUE CRIME magazine, the brutal murder of her classmate, 14-year-old Kathleen Donlevy, captivates her. Driven by her curiosity and determination, Mary initiates her own inquiry into this baffling crime, which has left no suspects, witnesses, or substantial leads. Her investigation leads her to a connection between a traveling carnival and multiple unsolved murders of teenage girls along the West Coast. Mary joins forces with Tony Campbell, an eager police cadet, who becomes her unofficial partner in solving the case. As they delve deeper, Mary discovers disturbing evidence in Tony's apartment, leading her to a chilling realization: the man she is falling for might be the murderer. Mary must now navigate her feelings and the danger that surrounds her as she races to uncover the truth.
