After World War II, the Franco regime seeks external ideological masking in an attempt to get out of international isolation. The strategic collaboration with the United States translates, in one of its least known ways, into the supply of nuclear material in the face of the new cold war scenario. In that context, a uranium mine is opened in Albalá (Cáceres).
