Emilo Barrero (José Coronado) seems to be a successful man. An economist at the Bank of Spain, no less, as he likes to tell his father. He’s got the perfect wife (Adriana Ozores), a nice house in the suburbs and a son who admires him and has got him on a pedestal. He’s about to celebrate his fortieth birthday and Agata, his wife, is preparing a surprise for him but in fact it is the others who are going to be surprised because Emilio Barrero’s life is based on appearances and lies. When Rosana (Marta Etura), a charming student comes into his world the precarious balance of his existence topples down and everything hurtles towards an unexpected outcome.
