Homeland (2015) delves into the aftermath of the Kosovo civil war, which profoundly altered the lives of its inhabitants. During the conflict, Maca suffered the devastating loss of her infant child, and the world she once knew was irrevocably changed. A decade later, Maca resides in Belgrade, eking out a living as a folk singer in a pub owned by Bole, the godfather of her late child. Bole has thrived in the new landscape, transforming into a prosperous businessman. Maca, however, finds herself emotionally detached, loving neither people nor things. Her ex-husband, Jovan, a war veteran, had retreated into a monastery but now feels compelled to leave his monastic life, driven by a sense of purpose.
