Ripley Hillard, a child prodigy for his detective skills, is determined to solve the case of the theft of a diamond in the local museum. To do this, he seeks the help of Grant Logan, an unemployed actor, who will pretend to be a detective for him because Ripley is convinced that the police will only listen to the ideas of an adult.
