Battle Stations (1956) follows the journey of a restored World War II aircraft carrier as it ventures back into the Pacific theater in early 1945, unbeknownst to the Japanese who believed they had sunk it. The carrier's reappearance provokes a fierce response from the Japanese, leading to a near-destruction and a harrowing return to the United States. The captain, a stern leader aware of the heightened risks, demonstrates compassion by not grounding a pilot who made a critical error by disregarding a wave-off command.
