«During the Spanish Civil War, many villages of Republican –Loyalist– Spain, and among them the enormous majority of those in Upper Aragon, were involved in the development of a collectivist experience founded on mutual support and solidarity. Villagers collectivised the land putting an end to the exploitation of man by his fellow man. They abolished money and replaced it with the interchanging of products and produce. They distributed everything according to the needs of each person. With little or no formal education but with vision and decision, they proved themselves capable of laying out a new society.»
