The Cure

Two swaggering wise-ass con artists takes to the road, hawking fake medicine, swindling innocents from all walks of life. The road movie with its beginning at Bangkok becomes the end for one partner when the scam is exposed and he is assaulted. The majestic ruins of Sukhothai become his burial ground. Striking out alone, our hero passes through a nameless town and experiences a singular encounter with a chanteuse. A love affair of sorts also develops during a short stay at an inn in Changmai. He returns empty handed to his home village in the hills of Northern Thailand. In marked contrast to the urban debauchery which is his milieu, the simplicity and innocence of nature affects him profoundly. The end of the journey becomes a soul searching discovery of the meaning of kindheartedness.
