This is a film about two 13 year-old girls. Paula lives in rural Latvia, where she zealously follows the latest trends in popular magazines. Nadin lives in Tonsberg in Norway and she is also keeping up with the latest fashion and, on the contrary to Paula, feels free to experiment with her looks. What is the importance of looks and appearance in the girls’ lives? How does it affect their relationships to their peers? And how are their mothers dealing with their fascination for trends?
