Comandante (2023) follows the journey of Salvatore Todaro, who leads the submarine Cappellini for the Italian Royal Navy at the outset of World War II. In October 1940, while patrolling the Atlantic, Todaro's submarine encounters a mysterious merchant ship, the Kabalo, sailing without lights. The Belgian vessel unexpectedly attacks the submarine and its crew, sparking a brief but intense battle. Todaro successfully sinks the enemy ship, but his subsequent decision will leave a lasting mark on history.
