The story follows the ambitious 14-year-old Lisa (Flora Ofelia Hofmann Lindahl) as she is confronted with the brutal realities of life for women in 19th century rural Sweden. On a farm in the late 1800s an intense waiting begins when a mother goes into a complicated labour, and teenager Lise must prepare herself for a night that may change her life forever.
