El viaje de Javier Heraud (2019) follows Ariarca, a 20-year-old woman who has always felt the presence of her great uncle, despite never meeting him. Intrigued by his enigmatic figure, Ariarca decides to delve into a trunk of memories to piece together the life of her absent relative. The trunk contains letters and poems that reveal the journey of Javier Heraud, a prominent Peruvian poet who created his most significant works between the ages of 18 and 21. Through his poetic and epistolary legacy, Ariarca uncovers Javier's travels to Paris, Moscow, Madrid, and Havana, as well as his involvement with a guerrilla group in the 1960s. She learns about his fateful journey through Bolivia's jungle into Peru, culminating in his tragic end in Puerto Maldonado. Ariarca's quest leads her to meet witnesses of these events, shedding light on the life and untimely death of one of Peru's most cherished poets, often referred to as the "Rimbaud of Peruvian poetry." As Ariarca reaches the same age at which Javier died, she feels a deep connection to his story and a responsibility to uncover and share his legacy.
