In Morbihan, one of the poorest region in the contemporary Bretagne. Joseph, a 33 years old peasant can no longer live only from the earth. He goes out to town and have himself hired in a brand new factory that had just opened in the nearest town. Within a couple of days, even a couple of hours, his life a completely changed as he entered into the organized workforce. But, as the day is finish, he goes back to his farm, away from the noise of the city where he must try to find his place in the "new world" as a proletarian.
