McPherson and Gould, the owners of a dozen reactionary American newspapers, are systematically conducting a slanderous campaign against the Soviet Union. In order to get "fresh" material, they send journalist Harry Smith to Russia. Returning from Russia, Smith feels that he is not able to fulfill the order of the newspaper owners. Contrary to everything, Smith decides to write the truth about the Russian people. McPherson widely advertises a future book. But after reading the true work of a journalist, McPherson enters into a frantic rage.
