That Man from Tangier

Mary Ellen, a restless American heiress, travels to Seville, Spain to visit relatives but on the plane meets a handsome business man who resides in Tangier and invites her to visit the mysterious city in North Africa. Eager for adventure, Mary Ellen follows him there and is treated to a night of wine and dance which ends up in marriage. The following day she tries to contact him but the man has disappeared. Fearing a social scandal if news of her unorthodox marriage to a stranger becomes public knowledge, Mary Ellen goes back to Seville and enlists her father's help in locating the man. Both go to Tangier and in their search they find that the name and address of the missing husband belongs to another man, an adventurer named Henri who lives with an Arab beauty, Aixa, and whose main occupation is to rip-off tourists. Mary Ellen and her father offer him $5,000 dollars if he goes back to Seville with them and pretends to be her husband for a month after which it is expected a no-contest divorce. He accepts and goes with them to Seville much to Aixa's chagrin. Henri poses as the dutiful husband in front of relatives, friends and international society but crashes constantly with the temperamental Mary Ellen. After a while Henri goes back to Tangier and Mary Ellen goes after him hoping for a quick divorce... However in Tangier the couple is forced to live together and their feelings for each other begin to change, a fact that does not sit well with Aixa who starts harassing Mary Ellen. However, at the end, Henri and Mary Ellen realize that they are in love and the divorce is no longer necessary...
